What is stored in your browser

All of these are necessary for a service you have asked for, so none of them needs consent under the ePrivacy rules. None is used to profile you or follow you to another site.

Your event key

Stored so the dashboard opens on this device without a code. It is a convenience: the key is checked on the server every time it is used, and clearing your browser data loses it. Linking the event to an account is the durable way back in.

Sign-in

If you sign in, your browser keeps the session token that keeps you signed in until you sign out.

Language and choices

The language you are reading in, and the small preferences a screen remembers, such as whether you have dismissed a notice.

Your answer about measurement

Yes or no, kept so that you are asked once and not on every page. It is stored either way — a no we cannot remember is a question we would have to ask again.

Measurement

We use Google Analytics to see which pages bring people to the product, in which languages, and where a step goes wrong. It is switched off until you say yes: the tag is loaded with every kind of storage refused, so until you answer, nothing is written to your browser and no identifier exists for you. Answer no and it stays that way.

• Web addresses are shortened before they are sent, so nothing that identifies an event — a host key, a guest key, a claim code, a payment reference — can reach Google. What is sent is the page, the language, and a handful of named product steps.
• We do not use advertising networks, retargeting pixels or social media trackers, and Google's advertising and cross-device features are switched off.
• To change your answer, clear this site's data in your browser: the question comes back on your next visit.
• Guests are never asked, and are therefore never measured beyond a count with no identifier in it. A consent sheet between a guest and the camera button is not something we are willing to put there.

Written only after a yes. Tells a returning browser from a new one, for up to two years. It is a random number, and it is not tied to your account or your email address.

_ga_<measurement id>

Written only after a yes. Keeps track of the current visit, so five pages in a row count as one visit rather than five.

If you are a guest

Uploading a photo asks nothing of you: no account, no name, no email address. Your browser keeps nothing about the event except what is needed to finish the upload you started.

Clearing it

Any browser can clear site data, and it can be done for this site alone. Doing so signs you out and forgets the events this device remembers, so link an event to an account first if you still need it. Questions go to support@galawall.com.
